Zoning: Violations & Tickets

Real estate brokers are responsible to have a working knowledge of local zoning laws per the Department of State. In fact, brokers have been charged with license law violations for encouraging their client’s violation of local zoning and occupancy regulations. Still further, cities, towns and villages frequently ticket brokers who violate their zoning codes. This 3 credit Real Estate Continuing Education course will explain the NYS Uniform Code, the Municipal Home Rule Law, the Multiple Dwelling / Residence Laws, licensee’s exposure from zoning tickets, and the zoning enforcement / court process. After completing this course, the student will be in a position to avoid exposure from zoning violations. More so, this course will teach students to leverage the zoning law in negotiating deals.
